Galileos 3D x-ray
At East Brainerd Dentistry our commitment to technology allows us to better serve our patients. The Galileos, a 3D x-ray scan, gives us a detailed three-dimensional view of the teeth and jaws. This information is vital in comprehensive diagnosis, guided implant planning and placement, sleep apnea and root canals.
Diagnosis - The detailed information from a Galileos scan gives our doctors the ability to see things conventional 2D x-rays cannot. As a result, more accurate diagnosis and planning is possible like never before.
Guided Implants - Perhaps the most useful aspect of 3D imaging involves dental implants. Our implants are thoroughly 
preplanned prior to placement. This planning increases precision and decreases appointment times. Using our planning software, we can fabricate guides, which are used during the surgical placement. This guide ensures the implant is safely placed in the correct location for ideal function and esthetics while avoiding vital structures.
Sleep Apnea - With the Galileos, not only does it show bone and teeth, it also shows soft tissues. We use this feature in the treatment of sleep apnea. We are able to view the airway and any possible constrictions that could lead to apnea. We are also able to look at the nasal passages and sinus to evaluate other factors invovled in apnea.
Root Canals - The three-dimensional views of the Galileos help us visualize teeth from every aspect, which often results in more predictable and efficient root canal therapy.
